More than 1,500 families have been displaced, joining 3,000 people already in camps as floods continue to wreak havoc in the county.

County Red Cross co-ordinator, Jerrald Bombe, said the numbers are set to rise as about 300 families are still stranded in Nanigi village.

The Tana River County government has bought a boat capable of ferrying 30 passengers to aid in rescue operations.
