  • The information desk will soon be on the web so that investors can avoid duplicating projects once they start their operations in the county.
  • The governor said his mission was to ensure his county had sufficient food, enough for consumption and surplus for sale.

An information desk has been set up at Nyamira County headquarters to coordinate Kenyans in the diaspora willing to develop the region.

This follows a recent successful tour to the US by the county governor John Nyagarama.

During the tour, the governor met with several Kenyans in the diaspora whom he said are willing to invest in the area.

Speaking in his office soon after his return from the US, the governor said the information desk to be manned by an IT expert will coordinate all activities that will be carried out by investors in the county.

“The information desk will soon be on the web so that investors can avoid duplicating projects once they start their operations in the county,” he said.

Mr Nyagarama had remained in the US after a tour of Cord governors organized by the coalition's leader Raila Odinga.

The aim of the tour was to woo investors.

VISION

The governor said his vision was to ensure his county had sufficient food, enough for consumption and surplus for sale.

“I have put mechanisms in place to fulfil my campaign pledges of creating jobs for school leavers and improve infrastructure and education standards in the County,” he said.

Mr Nyagarama urged investors to assist the county to fulfil its vision.

He also revealed that his government had liaised with six tea factories in the region to generate electricity to address power problems in the area.

“Feasibility studies are on-going in our major rivers and we shall combine our resources to generate our own power for use. The surplus will be sold to the national grid,” he added.

He expressed his anger over continuous power outages in Nyamira and urged the Kenya Power company to build a sub-station within Nyamira Township to step up electricity supply in the region in order to meet the high demand.
