What you need to know:

  • Over 1,000 participants including at least 300 children participated in the event.
  • Over 4 million shillings were raised during this year’s event.

It’s a sport event that brings together cyclists and animal rights advocates for a worthy cause.

For more than 10 years, Cycle with the Rhino event at Lake Nakuru National Park has continued to grow and attract participants to compete for trophies as well as fun.

Over 1,000 participants including at least 300 children participated in the event that aims at raising funds for construction of an electric fence around the park so as to protect the endangered black and white rhinos.

It’s the only time one gets to ride a bicycle in the park without fear of being attacked by animals as armed Kenya Wildlife Service rangers stand guard.

The event attracts cyclists of all ages, those who compete for prizes and those out to have fun.

This year’s event, held on September 27, attracted different participants; journalists too were not left behind.
