Homa Bay teen charged with killing pupil after quarrel

A 15-year-old student accused of killing a Grade Four pupil in Rachuonyo South denied the charge in court on Monday.

The accused, a Form One student, was arraigned before Homa Bay High Court Judge Joseph Karanjah.

He denied the charge of murdering an 11-year-old girl following a disagreement that ensued when they were together with her sister and his brother.

The girl’s mother accused the suspect and his brother of assaulting her daughters.

She claimed the boys pelted the girls with stones and wooden rods and that the victim ran into a maize plantation but was followed by the accused and his brother.

FOUND DEAD

The girl was reported missing after the incident and her body was found three days later - on June 19 -  in a maize plantation in Nduga village.

Rachuonyo South Police Commander Esau Ochorokodi said the suspect was arrested as evidence directly linked him to the minor’s death.

A post mortem showed the girl suffered rib injuries inflicted using a blunt object nd  died from excessive bleeding.

After denying the charge on Monday, the suspect was issued with a Sh200,000 bond and remanded to a facility in Kisii County ahead of the hearing on October 13.
