Samsung Limited has once again scored a first in the smartphones league as it launched the Galaxy S111 in Kenya Thursday.

The Galaxy S111 is android-powered with super amoled display screen that enhances its high definition user interface features.

The device has a front camera that recognises its user, thus can be controlled by opening and closing one’s eyes to unlock it or lock it.

“The phone enables for seamless human -phone interaction with integrated superior hardware to enhance usability and practicability,” said Samsung East Africa business leader Robert Ngeru.

Mr Ngeru said that this is part of the company’s strategy to enhance smartphone penetration in Kenya where there is only 10 per cent penetration.

The handset itself is massive, measuring 136.6mm tall, 70.6mm wide and boasting a waistline of 8.6mm - which is basically as thin as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S II, but much bigger.

It also has an S – Voice device that recognizes human sounds hence allowing the user to customize it to suit his or her needs. With the application, you can set it to respond with a “Hey , get up,” command.

The phone has a host of other embedded android and Samsung applications and can be serviced at any Samsung service centres in Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu and Eldoret.
