Leading industrialist Chandaria bags top award

Kenya’s leading industrialist Manu Chandaria has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the African Leadership Network, capping a six-decade entrepreneurial legacy.

He was awarded the prestigious title at this year's African Awards for Entrepreneurs ceremony held in Mauritius on October 5. Mr Chandaria is the chairman and CEO of holding company - Comcraft Group - a $2.5 billion industrial powerhouse which produces steel, plastics and aluminium products.

BRIGHT LEGACY

Comcraft Group operates in 45 African countries with its Kenyan staples including Mabati Rolling Mills and Kaluworks Ltd.

Speaking during the award ceremony held in Mauritius on October 5, African Leadership Network CEO Isaac Fokuo said Mr Chandaria has built a bright legacy that has inspired successive generations.

“Through six decades, Dr Chandaria has been an inspiration to successive entrepreneurs, as he built a business empire from a small enterprise in the 1950s,” said Mr Fokuo.

He is a benefactor of numerous schools and clinics in Kenya and supports more than 25 organisations in Kenya.

In its seventh year since establishment, African Awards for Entrepreneurs each year gives away $200,000 to African entrepreneurs who demonstrate business excellence and social impact.
