Cofek seeks to halt KQ flights to West Africa
e Consumers Federation of Kenya (Cofek) has moved to court seeking to have Kenya Airways compelled to stop flying to Ebola-hit West African countries.
Cofek, in their application, want Kenya Airways stopped from flying to any of such countries as a way of preventing the deadly virus from spreading into Kenya.
The organization argued that most airlines have stopped flying to such counties.
COMMERCIAL INTEREST
It said Kenya Airways' insistence to continue flying to the high risk West African capitals is informed by commercial interests and not the safety and public interest of Kenyans.
Those sued by Cofek include Attorney General, cabinet secretaries in charge of the ministry of transport and infrastructure, ministry of health and ministry of interior and coordination of national government.
High Court Judge Weldon Korir certified the matter as urgent and set it for hearing on August 20, 2014.
