Great chance for Kenya
What you need to know:
- Though stiff competition is expected to play out between the Kenyan team and their Ethiopian counterparts, the former has had proper preparations and nothing should stop them from a strong win
- We take this opportunity to call on the Kenyans in Boston and the greater US to show patriotism by turning out in large numbers to cheer their compatriots
The annual Boston marathon race takes place on Monday, in which Kenya has a strong representation.
The Kenyan team will be aiming at reclaiming the title from defending champion, Ethiopia’s Lelisa Desisa.
Due to Kenya’s meticulous performance in such races in the past, expectations will be high that the team could once again bring honour and glory to the country. The challenge lies squarely on the shoulders of the athletes to give their best.
Though stiff competition is expected to play out between the Kenyan team and their Ethiopian counterparts, the former has had proper preparations and nothing should stop them from a strong win.
Last year’s vent was overshadowed by shock bombings and it is our hope that organisers have this time round put in place stringent security measures to ensure the lives of both participants and spectators are protected.
Finally, we take this opportunity to call on the Kenyans in Boston and the greater US to show patriotism by turning out in large numbers to cheer their compatriots.
Go, Team Kenya, go!
