Trouble for Wazito boss as FIfa to take action over 'hyena' comment

The Fifa Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) has petitioned the world football body's disciplinary committee to take action against Wazito's president Ricardo Badoer over utterances he made on his Twitter account about the 12 players the club released in July.

This is according to the grounds of the case filed by five of the affected players who are Congolese Piscas Muhindo, Ghanaian Paul Acquah, Togolese Issofou Bourahana, Ugandan Mansoor Safi Agu and Liberian Augustine Otu, in which DRC fined Wazito close to Sh7million for breach of contract.

Wazito had requested the documents of the case, with a view of lodging an appeal.

"Finally on the account of the president's behaviour, which the Dispute Resolution Committee found to be unacceptable in light of the manner of language in his public manifestations, the chamber deemed it necessary to refer the case to Fifa Disciplinary Committee due to possible violation of art.11 of the Fifa Disciplinary Code," read part of the documents DRC sent to Wazito and seen by Nation Sport.

In a foul-mouthed tweet sent out on July 7 this year, Badoer said: "Today the Wazito FC cleaning continues. Kicking out no ****** good hyena players that were recruited without my approval. All they did was to eat my money and lose games. I wish them the best on the ****** streets where they belong. They lacked self respect and love for the game."

The comments sparked a lot of protests from local football coaches, fans and managers.

Tusker coach Robert Matano, who is the chairman of the coaches association, accused Badoer of racism while Kakamega Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula demanded the flamboyant businessman be deported from the country.

In the ruling made by Fifa, Acquah was awarded Sh 2.1million and Sh150,000 for outstanding remuneration, Muhindo Sh1.4million and 200,000 for outstanding remuneration, Bourhana Sh 1.04million, while Otu was awarded Sh848,776.
