A magistrate's court has acquitted Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria of incitement to violence charges.

Senior Principal Magistrate Teresiah Nyangene ruled that prosecutors did not present sufficient evidence to prove the charges against him.

The MP had been accused of incitement to violence, hate speech and fanning ethnic hatred.

Mr Kuria was accused of posting on his Facebook page two years ago that a terror attack at Gikomba market that killed 15 people was orchestrated by "Odhiambos" and not "Somalis".

The magistrate ruled that prosecutors failed to prove the Facebook page that spread the hate speech belongs to the legislator.
