Senior Counsel Paul Muite has disclosed that DP Rigathi Gachagua is admitted at Karen Hospital after suffering intense chest pains.

"I humbly request that the House give us a couple of days...up to Tuesday. We should know then when the DP can come before the House to defend himself," he said Thursday afternoon at Senate.

However, Siaya Governor and lawyer James Orengo pointed out that Muite did not table evidence of the DP's illness.

"We should have had one of the doctors here to tell us about his medical condition. Up to 1.15pm the Deputy President was here. He went to his office. There's no evidence he was evacuated in an ambulance," Mr Orengo, who is representing the National Assembly, said.

"This health condition he is in, and I sympathise, may be opportunistic in the absence of medical evidence from a doctor. I saw him when he came in. I'm not a doctor, but there was nothing to suggest he was in the condition that counsel (Muite) was talking about."
