Ms Kalekye, who was voted in at the association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, April 28, takes over from Nation Media Group (NMG) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Stephen Gitagama, who has held the role for three consecutive terms.

“I would like to thank members for their support during my tenure and I wish the new team all the best,” said Mr Gitagama.

Ms Kalekye has taken on the role with a promise to protect members' interests and embrace new technologies at a time when the media industry is undergoing a period of transformation, with an increased focus on the digital space.
