Baby Pendo's parents give emotional speeches at BBI event

Baby Pendo's father makes emotional plea to President Kenyatta

The parents of Baby Pendo, the six-month-old infant killed by a baton-wielding policeman on August 11, 2017, have addressed political leaders in the country in emotional speeches at the launch of the BBI report on Monday.

Their baby was clobbered to death in the aftermath of August 2017 general election.

Baby Pendo's mother, Loice Achieng, spoke first, and cautioned politicians not to incite Kenyans against each other and to watch what they say.

Pendo's father, Joseph Abanja, made a plea to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to remain united so that there's no more bloodshed after their handshake.

"Let my baby's blood be the last to be spilled," he said.

He also urged Mr Kenyatta not to forget his family as they have been suffering since their baby was killed, to which Mr Kenyatta responded by raising his arms with his hands clasped together.
