What you need to know:

  • Relationships nowadays are a joke, so there is no shame in waiting until you meet the right person. Charles Njonjo married at 52, so if you’re 40 and still single, there is still hope for you.

Last week’s feature on Chris Lyimo and Wandia Njoya was inspirational. Many people, especially women, give up on marriage after getting to a certain age.

The fact that this couple got married at 44 years is demonstration that age is simply that. A number. Also, the two have been through a lot, but their pasts did not hinder them from loving each other.

It is also remarkable that the education gap between them does not bother them.

I wish them happiness in their marriage. It is true that love knows no barriers.

It takes a confident man not to be intimidated by the fact that his wife earns more than he does, and is also more educated than he is. Kudos to Chris, we need more men like you.

Your 40s are the best age to marry since you are mature and know what you really want. It is rare to make mistakes at this age.

This is one of the most inspiring stories that I have read. It really renewed me with hope that all is not lost for those of us who are battling prolonged singleness.

It also taught me the power of grace, ability to forgive one’s past and the confidence of a man willing to pursue the kind of girl that most people shy from - educated, higher-than-him in the income bracket and outspoken.

I long for a man who can take the step of faith and sit next to me and get to know me and therefore open up possibilities. Thanks Wandia and Chris - your story is truly a grace story.

I am in tears as I read this. I am so happy and proud of you Chris and Wandia! Your story has personally touched me because my long-term relationship broke down when I started studying for my PhD.

The breakup was hard to take. I am in my last year now, and God has blessed me with a wonderful man!

May God bless you both and may he grant you all your heart’s desires.

What a beautiful story and gorgeous wedding outfits! The couple looks so happy together, and both look youthful and energetic. There is nothing greater than love.

Only God knows when we will be born, when we will marry and when we will die. Enjoy your married life and remember, quality is always better than quantity!

I refer to lasts week’s WifeSpeak. I once teased my one-year old son by moving close to his mother and making suckling sounds - the small guy almost fainted.

Karimi, we’re sailing in the same boat, but unlike you, I wish my son could stop breastfeeding already! But on the bright side, his immunity is great.

The Have Your Say feature last week spoke to me. I fall in the category of liars who tell the boss they are late for work because their car broke down.
