The Fifa World Cup Trophy is in Tripoli after completing its tour of Egypt, the first African destination by the world’s most sought after sports prize.

The solid gold trophy arrived in Cairo from Fifa’s Zurich headquarters last Thursday and was on display in Cairo for two days before moving to Libya from where it shifts to Tunisia.

Fans in Libya and Tunisia will see the trophy today and tomorrow, with the Tunisians expected to troop the Palais des Sports in El Menzah where it will be on display tomorrow.

The tour is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Company and organised in conjunction with world football governing body, Fifa.

Algeria is next in line on Wednesday with the trophy coming up on display at the Algiers Hilton Hotel.

The trophy arrives in Nairobi on November 12 and fans will have an opportunity to pose with it for photographs at a special customer activation organised by Coca-Cola.

Tickets will soon be up for grabs in competitions organised by Coca-Cola for the unique experience to be witnessed in Nairobi.

The trophy will visit 86 countries in its 225-day journey covering 134,017 kilometres. The ceremonial start of the tour was held in Zurich last Monday by Fifa president Sepp Blatter, Coca-Cola chairman and chief executive Muhtar Kent and legendary Cameroon footballer, Roger Milla.
