Uasin Gishu County is mourning the sudden death of Huruma Ward Representative Peter Chomba.

Mr Sudi said he MCA fell in his bathroom last week and that he had been going to hospital for treatment.

On Friday, Chomba spoke to some of his colleagues including Uasin Gishu majority leader Josphat Lowoi and Langas MCA Francis Muya and updated them on his health, Mr Sudi said.

The MCA was rushed to hospital early Saturday morning by his wife and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat termed the sudden death as shocking.

“As a county assembly we give our condolences to his family. We shall give a comprehensive statement on the same later Saturday,” said the speaker.

Former Turbo MP Elisha Busienei eulogised Chomba as a peaceful leader who will be missed by many.

“We both served in the defunct Eldoret Municipality Council as councilors before he was elected MCA in 2013 as I went for the parliamentary seat. We have lost a great hero,” said Mr Busienei.

“As we wait for his family and the county assembly to give us the way forward, we want to tell the people of Huruma that we are going to stand with them during this trying moment,” said Mr Chemno.
