A man who claims he has been tortured in silence by his wife for the past 20 years has came out in the open.

Mr James Bundi Kombo claims his wife and their five children had ganged up and had literally thrown him out of his Eronge Village home in Borabu District.

He has now appealed to the Maendeleo ya Wanaume and other human rights organisations to assist him.

The 50 year-old emaciated man who looks older than his actual age said his troubles started 20 years ago when his wife allegedly started illicit love affairs with other men.

“When I asked her why she was doing that she ganged up with one of her lovers and kicked me out of my living room.

She denied me my conjugal rights and I was forced to build another house to live in,” he said.

Kombo said he had been farming on his land and cooking for himself until five years ago when his wife and children stopped him from carrying out any agricultural activity on the family farm.

This, he says, has now reduced him into a street beggar.

SYMPATHISERS

“I now depend on well-wishers and sympathisers for my upkeep since my family has neglected me,” he said.

Kombo added that his estranged family members have denied him any access to his property which includes his three acre tea farm.

He says the farm has been earning him at least Sh100,000 in bonuses and an average of Sh1,500 in monthly earnings.

He added that he had sought assistance from his extended family and the local provincial administration without success.

“I have no option other than committing suicide unless a sympathiser comes to my rescue since I have become a stranger in my own home,” he said.

The crest fallen man said all he wanted was to be allowed back to part of his farm to till so that he can fend for himself instead of relying on well-wishers for his daily upkeep.

OUT OF WEDLOCK

The distraught man added that some of his children were sired out of wedlock.

“I am sad because my firstborn son who is now 30 years old and married does not recognise me as his father," Kombo lamented.

"I will soon end my life because I cannot bear the suffering I am going through any longer,” he added.

Mr Bundi Thursday sought help from the Nyamira Police Station after alleging that interventions by his Bogesumi assistance chief and Kiabonyoru chief had not solved his problems.

But he was referred to the Ekerenyo District Officer for assistance
