Police vehicles are used to ferry narcotics, MP claims
A government vehicle that two GSU officers were using to transport 600 kilos of bhang early this year.

Maragua MP Mary wa Maua Wednesday claimed police vehicles are being used to transport narcotics in Murang’a County.
“I have complained to the county security committee about police vehicles that have been ferrying bhang in my constituency.
"I have provided them with specific details, especially about one police vehicle that distributes narcotics to college students and the underage in Makuyu area,” she said.
She said there is one GK-plated vehicle that distributes bhang near Murang’a Teachers Training College gates and Ciumbu town.
The MP added that ambulances and some private vehicles belonging to “people in authority” are also involved in the vice.
Murang’a County Commissioner Mohammed Barre said he is aware of the MP’s claims. “She has shared that information with us and we are investigating. I also have another report from Kabati area of Kandara Sub-county where there is a wholesale bhang depot said to be under protection by area police officers…These are serious criminal acts by uniformed officers and we are probing these cases,” he said.
On Friday, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police Edward Mbugua had a security meeting with county bosses, where the MP made the same claims.
Mr Mbugua gave Murang’a County Police Commander Josephat Kinyua “until Monday to act on the concerns raised”.
