Teenager arrested in Migori transporting 353 rolls of bhang

A teenager from Bomet County has been arrested in Migori town while transporting bhang from Tanzania.
The 17-year-old boy was arrested on Fridy while transporting 353 rolls of bhang worth at least Sh300,000 from Tanzania.
The haul brings to Sh7million value of bhang impounded by police in Migori County this month.
Police said the teenager had hidden the rolls of bhang in bags of maize that he was transporting on his motorbike with an accomplice, Mr Victor Sigei.
The duo were arrested after they defied orders to stop at a roadblock in Migori town.
Migori County Administration Police Commander Julius Mukanda said they arrested the teenager while his accomplice escaped.
Mr Mukanda said they have already contacted their Bomet counterparts to arrest the fugitive.
“We have increased crackdown on bhang from Tanzania in Migori town. We have impounded more that Sh7million worth of bhang this month,” Mukanda said.
County security officers on Sunday seized 10 bags of bhang hidden in a maize plantation in Buembe village, Suna West sub-County on the Kenya-Tanzania border and arrested a suspect, Mr Duncan Ochieng’.
Police say minors have been sucked into drug trafficking on the Kenya-Tanzania border.
