Raila Kwale attack case to be heard in March 2015

A case in which a man has been charged with whipping Cord leader Raila Odinga has been postponed yet again.

Mr Lengo Mdzomba’s case will be heard on March 6, 2015.

He is accused of causing disturbance at a Cord rally in Kinango Market in September 2014.

He also attacked Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya.

Kwale resident magistrate Christine Njagi postponed the hearing after the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Alexander Muteti, and Kwale State counsel George Mungai failed to show up.

State counsel Wanjiru Mwai told the court that Mr Muteti was on leave while Mr Mungai was out on official duties.

“I am holding brief on behalf of the two and I am sorry to say that we are unable to proceed with the case.

I have directions to apply for a new hearing date,” he said.

Mr Mdzomba, who was represented by lawyer Gift Mwagunya, said he had no objection.

The prosecution had lined up three witnesses to testify against the accused.

He was freed on Sh2,500 bail.
