Orwa Ojode's widow to run for Ndhiwa MP in 2017 elections

The widow of former Internal Security assistant minister Joshua Orwa Ojode, Mary Ojode, has declared her interest in the Ndhiwa parliamentary seat in the 2017 elections.

Mrs Ojode, whose husband held the seat before incumbent Aghostinho Neto, exuded confidence that with a transparent nomination, she would be able to capture the seat.

“It is my hope that our beloved party ODM will this time around not allow rigging during the nominations,” she said.

Mrs Ojode, who made her first attempt at joining politics after her husband’s death when she contested in the subsequent by-election, declared that this time around she is ready to face her opponents.

She was speaking on Sunday during celebrations marking the fourth anniversary of her husband’s death.

The low-key event was attended by the director of the Kenya School of Law, Dr PLO Lumumba.

Mr Ojode died on June 10, 2012 alongside his boss, Prof George Saitoti, their bodyguards and two pilots in a helicopter crash in Ngong Forest.

Many questions regarding the helicopter crash remain unanswered to date.
