Despite rich history and resilient people, Somalia continues to grapple with a complex set of challenges.

Political instability, often marked by power struggles and a fragile government, hinders economic development and discourages investment. The nation's economy struggles to provide for its citizens, with high unemployment and limited resources.

Additionally, ongoing security threats posed by extremist groups further destabilise the country and create an atmosphere of fear.

The war against Al-Shabaab has not yielded tangible achievements, leaving a trail of fallen heroes who died defending their nation. Unanswered questions linger around their deaths, demanding accountability and a clear path forward.

In 2024, it's disheartening to see ongoing tribal clashes erupt across several regions, including Middle Shabelle, Lower Shabelle, Hiraan, Galdud, Mudug, and Gedo. The Somali government must take responsibility for its slow response to this civil conflict. With greater effort and a more proactive approach, they can demonstrably improve the situation and solve this menace once and for all.

Daily struggles

Somalia's stark economic reality paints a troubling picture. A widening wealth gap separates a small, privileged upper class, largely insulated from the daily struggles of the people, from the vast majority who grapple with poverty. This disparity is further exacerbated by serious allegations of government mismanagement of aid funds. Diverting donations intended for public benefit undermines not only the present but also the future of the nation.

A lingering colonial mindset, characterised by a lack of agency and over-reliance on foreign aid, seems to be hindering our progress. We must move beyond this mentality and embrace self-reliance. Instead of passively waiting for handouts, we should be channelling our collective strength to find solutions to poverty and hunger. Remember, my fellow Somalis, true satisfaction and respect come not from handouts, no matter how generous, but from the fruits of our labour. Let's harness our potential and build a country that thrives on its own merits.

My people, it's time to unlock our potential. We've long known that self-belief and a spirit of can-do are the cornerstones of success. Let's channel this spirit towards our nation's revival. We must prioritise the well-being of our people and the development of our country, shifting our focus away from a cycle of relying on external aid.

Empowering our domestic economy is paramount. Tightening our belts signifies a commitment to responsible resource management. Let's invest in boosting our own production capabilities, be it through agriculture, manufacturing, or entrepreneurship. This not only fosters self-sufficiency but also creates jobs and opportunities for our citizens.

Unity is indeed our greatest strength. When we stand together, our collective resources and ingenuity are multiplied. By fostering collaboration across communities and sectors, we can tackle challenges more effectively and build a brighter future for all Somalis.

Remember, reliance breeds stagnation. Let's embrace self-reliance, invest in our people and our land, and stand united. This is the path towards a brighter, more prosperous Somalia, a nation respected for its achievements.

Our people deserve a government that prioritizes their needs and delivers on its promises. Citizens have a fundamental right to hold their government accountable. Apathy in the face of unmet needs cannot be the answer.

Demand better

We, the people of Somalia, must unite and demand better. The time for empty campaign promises is over. We urge our leaders to take decisive action to address the challenges we face. If they cannot deliver, they must step aside and allow those with the capacity to lead to take the helm. This is not just a call for change; it is the exercise of our constitutional right to a functional and responsive government.

As leader of the Alliance for Future Party, I want to assure the Somali people of my unwavering commitment to serve them during these challenging times. I share your concerns about the current situation and understand the hardships you face.

The Alliance for Future Party is dedicated to leading Somalia towards a brighter future. Our party prioritises the needs and well-being of the Somali people and is prepared to implement policies that will foster development and progress.

The 2022 presidential election season revealed a disheartening level of corruption, prompting me to step aside from the race. However, my dedication to building a better Somalia remains unwavering.

The Alliance for Future Party envisions a brighter future for Somalia, a future built on unity, progress, and shared prosperity. However, achieving this vision requires a collective effort. I urge all Somalis to participate in shaping the nation's destiny. Hold your leaders accountable, demand transparency, and actively engage in the democratic process. Together, through collective action and unwavering commitment, we can build a Somalia that fulfils its true potential.
