The agreement comes at a time when Somalia is trying to promote peace in the country and the region after decades of civil war, mainly caused by the al-Shabab terrorist group, which has killed thousands and destroyed property in the Horn of Africa nation.

In a related development, the agreement between Mogadishu University and the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, the national body under the Federal Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, is aimed at providing specialisation and training to students.

The agreement was signed in the country's capital by Mr Ahmed Omar, Deputy Federal Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mr Ahmed Moallim Hassan, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, and Mr Mursal, representing the institution.

Mr Mursal stressed that "cooperation remains at the heart of our efforts to boost the aviation industry. However, we recognise that achieving this goal requires a commitment to work with agencies and institutions that share similar goals".

He commended the Somali Civil Aviation Management for their efforts in signing this historic agreement and emphasised the importance of joint efforts to promote aviation.

Mr Moallim said, "We are pleased to seize this opportunity to develop areas of mutual interest.
