Pay attention also to pupils who fail exams

Every year, we celebrate the students who do very well in the KCPE and KCSE exams.

However, we tend to forget those who do not get the right grades to join university or high school.

They are reduced to a number nobody wants to talk about. They will not become doctors or engineers. Therefore, their stories, hopes or dreams don’t concern us.

Since in our society formal education is the proven path to success, these teenagers risk becoming a forgotten generation of losers.

We need to diversify our definition of success. Not everyone can become a doctor, and not everyone should. It is not the individual students who fail; it is, indeed, our education system that fails them.
