A new political alliance could be in the making after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua met at Kimunye village in Kirinyaga County.

Mr Gachagua arrived at Ms Karua's rural home at 11:30 am, and the two are currently engaged in a closed-door meeting.

The meeting between the former political rivals, now appearing as allies, has sparked speculation among residents.

It is anticipated that the duo will make a significant political announcement following their discussions.

They were accompanied by several Members of Parliament, including Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri), Jane Kihara (Naivasha), Benjamin Gathiru (Embakasi Central), and James Gakuya (Embakasi North), among others.

Kirinyaga Jubilee Chairman Mureithi Kang'ara was also present at the meeting.

This meeting comes after Mr Gachagua recently declared that he will provide political direction for the Mt Kenya region, fuelling speculation about a potential new political formation.
