What you need to know:

  • In a road rally, competitors compete over a predetermined course against the clock.
  • Cars start at (usually) one-minute intervals. There is no direct head-to-head racing, and these days the emphasis is very much on navigation and teamwork rather than out-and-out speed.

Safaricom-sponsored Maxine Wahome took the National Open Class crown after last weekend’s final round of the 2021 KCB National Autocross by securing overall victory at the Jamhuri Park.

The Subaru Impreza N10 driver is also leading the National Division Two of the Kenya National Rally Championship. Her best result this season was fifth overall in the KCB Thika Rally. She has also scored top-seven places.

Rajveer Thethy clinched the Formula Two title of the 2021 KCB National Autocross Championship by finishing fourth overall on Sunday.

Carl Tundo needs just a top-10 finish in the last round of the 2021 KCB Kenya National Rally Championship to clinch his sixth national title.

With just the KCB Guru Nanak Rally remaining on December 11-12, Tundo leads the current overall championship with 166 points.

His closest rival, Baldev Chager, is in second place with 141 points. The Guru Nanak Rally will offer a maximum of 33 points.

Chager has won the Kenya National Rally Championship titles on four different occasions in addition to winning the Safari Rally thrice.

He was back fresh from winning the latest Mini Classic Rally in a Porsche 911. Carl Tundo is the 2021 African champion and has previously won the Safari Rally five times, the East African Safari Classic Rally once and the Kenya National Rally Championship five times.

The campaign led by International Automobile federation (FIA) presidential Candidate Graham Stoker has successfully lodged its full Presidential List with the FIA Nominations Committee, confirming its eligibility for the election on 17 December in Paris.

Each candidate must submit a Presidential List, which is made up of nominations for President of the FIA, the President of the Senate, the two Deputy Presidents and the seven Vice-Presidents for Sport. Surinder Thatthi of Kenya is selected by Stocker as a representative from the African continent.

For each of the 10 candidates, a written declaration of support from his or her parent FIA Member must be provided. A list cannot include a candidate who is already entered on another list.
