Get ready to shop, Ingwe fans! We will have a  lot of new items in our stores starting this week in readiness for the new football season.

After a delay occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, AFC Leopards’ Umbro replica jerseys will be available for purchase ahead of the 2020/21 kick-off scheduled for next month.

AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda, who went to inspect the kit in Turkey, has confirmed that the final Ingwe squad will be unveiled this month in their new colours.

Among the new players include Peter Thiong’o from Kakamega Homeboyz, Harrison Mwendwa from Kariobangi Sharks and Congolese Fabrice Kakule Mugheni. Ingwe are also eyeing Ugandan Muzamir Mutyaba to sharpen the striking department. Mutyaba, who recently parted ways with Kampala Capital City Authority, will partner with Elvis Rupia.

However, Leopards will miss the services of Vincent Oburu who joined Wazito FC on a free transfer after he turned down a new offer. Ingwe have also released defender Christopher Oruchum who joined Tusker.

Financial crunch

The management says fans in Nairobi will be able to buy AFC Leopards replica jerseys that will retail for Sh3,000 at the main office  at Vision Plaza, third floor on Mombasa Road in Nairobi and at the club’s official merchandise shop along Moi Avenue.

Ingwe have a three-year sponsorship contract with BetSafe, but the betting company has only promised to start dispatching money when the Kenyan Premier Legue begins.

Salary delays have caused Ingwe to  lose key players.  As we prioritise players’ welfare, we need to exploit possible internal sources of cash since  revenue from the gate collections  have fallen.
