Twenty-three countries have so far confirmed their participation in the 9th edition of the Mombasa Tong-IL Moo-Do Martial Arts Championships scheduled to be held at the Aga Khan Academy Multipurpose Hall from December 11-22, 2021.

Kenya Tong-IL Moo-Do Federation chairman, Clarence Mwakio said they expect more nations to confirm their taking part in the championship which Kenya’s Team Jasiri has been winning in all the years the event has been taking place.

Among the countries expected to take part include Paraguay, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Brazil, Cyprus, Cote D’Ivoire, Philippines, South Korea, Cambodia, Japan, Republic of Congo, Iran, Turkey, Zambia, Malaysia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Central Africa Republic, Nepal, Angola, United States of America and Germany.

Mwakio said the national team selection in readiness for the Mombasa Open will be held Saturday and Sunday in Nairobi and Mombasa.

“We are organising the two-day selection for participants to be accorded an opportunity to compete and qualify for places in the team Jasiri,” he said.

He said 23 nations have confirmed participation after their countries eased the coronavirus travel restrictions. “Our Kenyan team will be composed of men and women for this year’s championship which is of a world championship calibre,” said Mwakio.
