Twenty cars have entered the KCB Thika Rally, the penultimate round of the 2021 KCB Kenya National Rally Championship event, which will be run on Sunday.

The first part of the KCB Thika Rally will begin Saturday morning with the reconnaissance of the official route of the penultimate round of the series.

The scrutineering of  rally cars will also be Saturday at MISC, Kasarani Stadium. The rally proper will be run on Sunday.

The KCB Thika Rally will be organised by the Rallye Sports Club of Nairobi. The rally will start from the Mt Kenya University, with the first car leaving the ramp at 8am.

The venue will also host the Finish of the event where the first car will be due back from 2.27pm onwards.

A total of seven competitive stages will be run by the club. The longest stage will be 31.13 kilometers long, while the shortest will be 3.52km.

The final stage will be the Power Stage which will be 25.48kms. The total distance will be 204kms of which 142.18kms will be of the Competitive Stages.

George Njoroge, the Deputy Clerk of the Course for the rally, said no spectators will be allowed according to the Covid-19 restrictions set by the government. KCB, the sponsors have also said no spectators should be allowed in the rally.

It will be Issa Amwari’s turn to start first in the rally according to the Seeding System that was released at the beginning of the season.

Each of the top-eight finishers from the previous overall championship of the Kenya National Rally Championship (in this case from the end of 2020) has to start first on road in one of the eight rounds of the series for fair play.

The rotation system is to make sure that not the same driver "opens" the stages in all rallies. Not all drivers, however "courageous or fast" would like to start off first on road as that would mean "clearing" the route for the following cars.
