Zimbabwe’s Robson Chinhoi maintained his seven shots lead going into Sunday’s final round of the 2020 Uganda Open Golf championship at the par 72 Uganda Golf Course.

During the third round on Saturday, Chinhoi who appears to be in an excellent form, shot three under par 69 for an aggregate of 10 under par 206 with a great chance of claiming the Uganda Open title unless a calamity happens in Sunday’s final round.

He will be in the last flight with local pro Philip Kasozi who shot four under par 68 though it was not good enough to remove the Zimbabwean from the top of the leaderboard.

Kasozi, a regular player In the Safari Tour like Chinhoi, made a number of birdies during the day for his 68 which gave him a total of three under par 213 and just a shot better than compatriot Deo Akope.

In the final round, Kasozi will need a lot of luck as well as a good list of birdies if he would like to keep the top cash prize at home. Akope, arguably the best professional in Uganda, fired two under par 70, but that could only give him a total of two under par 214, a whole eight shots behind the leader.

Meanwhile it looks over for defending champion Madilitso Muthiya of Zambia who was only able to produce one under par 71 on a day birdies were elusive for him. He will be carrying a level par 216 to the final where he will need a miracle to recover 10 shots.

On the other hand, six times champion Dismas Indiza led a Kenyan chase after one under par 71 which carried him to fifth place on one over par 217. The other Kenyans following him were David Wakhu on 72, Greg Snow (71), and Samuel Njoroge who carded 75 for the day.
