A composed Shabana FC Sunday beat Dandora Love 2-1 to record three wins in a row in a National Super League (NSL) match at Awendo Stadium in Migori County.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Nehemiah Onchiri before the visitors equalised from the spot seven minutes later.

Kevin Ndungu converted the spot kick silencing dozens of home fans who had come to cheer the Kisii county based side.

Yusuf Muhamed’s strike gave the hosts the winning goal and most importantly the three points.

Shabana came into the game highly motivated by last weekend’s 1-0 win against Nivas FC, while Dandora were still recovering from a 3-0 loss to MCF. Shabana had earlier beaten Mombasa Elite 2-0 before the Christmas holiday.

Speaking after the match, Dandora head coach James Nandwa blamed his players for failing to convert scoring opportunities.

“I have a young team that I am trying to build but I like the way the boys are competing. We lost fairly but we are going back to the drawing board to focus on our next match” said the tactician.

His Shabana counterpart Robert Ojienda attributed the results to home fans who usually attend matches in large numbers.

He reiterated that they will be targeting to win all the remaining matches to keep their promotion hopes alive.

“The team is in good spirit and I believe my players will not let me down. It is a collective responsibility from the technical bench to the players” he said.

Having played seven matches, Shabana are now at position three with 14 points, same as Fortune Sacco who are second with a better goal difference.

Dandora are in position eight with 11 points, while APS Bomet are sitting at the helm of the table having garnered 16 points from the same number of matches.

In their next assignments, Shabana will tour Kisumu All Stars, while Dandora Love will entertain Mwatate United.
