Junior Starlets U-17 World Cup heroines named in senior women’s team

Kenya Under 17 World Cup stars Elizabeth Ochaka and Christine Adhiambo have been named in the senior Harambee Starlets team that will play Morocco “B” in two friendly matches in north Africa.
The duo were part of the Junior Starlets that wrote history as the first Kenyan national team to compete in a Fifa World Cup.
Kenya coach Beldine Odembo included the two juniors in her 22-strong squad on Tuesday for an eight-day camp in Morocco where they will face Morocco “B on Friday, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex Stadium in Sale and on December 3 at the same venue.
Defender Ochaka captained Junior Starlets at the Fifa Women’s Under-17 World Cup that was held in the Dominican Republic from October 27 to November 3 and is a member of Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League side Kenya Police Bullets.
Fellow defender Adhiambo is a student Butere Girls High School.
At the same time, goalkeeper Christine Adhiambo, who turns out for Nyakach Girls’ High School has been promoted to the senior team from the national Under-20 side, Rising Starlets.
Attackers Jackeline Chesang of Trinity Starlets and Diana Cherono of Vihiga Queens, all Premiership sides, are in line to receive their first cap.
Harambee Starlets were scheduled to depart the country for Morocco on Tuesday night.
