Jomvu Sub-County Primary Schools Athletics Championships

Boys compete in the 100 metres finals during the Jomvu Sub-County Primary Schools Athletics Championships which ended on December 3, 2021 at Amani Primary School grounds.

  • Kenya Primary School Sports Association (KPSSA) Mombasa branch chairman, Ali Abdalla, thanked all those who participated in organising and handling the championship successfully.

Amani Primary School in Mikindani, Mombasa County on Friday utilised their home ground advantage to win the Jomvu Sub-County Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships which attracted 14 schools.

The hosts, cheered by the schoolmates, gave their team the victory after amassing 150 points with the boys team scoring 58 points and girls 92 points.

Mreroni Primary was second with 91 points, boys contributing 48 points and the girls  43.

Jomvu Primary was third on 84 points, with their boys securing 48 points and the girls 36.

Fourth place went to Kwa Shee who got 58 points, World Bank Primary were fifth (46), Mikindani sixth (37), St Mary’s seventh (26), Miritini eighth (17), Jerusalem ninth (4), Gift schools and St Irene shared 10th place with two points each.

Jomvu Bright Star were 12th position with a point while Living Word and St Pete’s the Rock, wound last without a point.

Amani's Suleiman Chombo was named the best boys' athlete after scoring 28 points, followed by Nassor Barasa of Kwa Shee Primary who got 27 points while John Mgaza of Mreroni finished third with 18 points.

In girls' category, Anjeline Awuor from Amani School emerged the winner with 31 points while Margaret Kahaso of Kwa Jomvu and Anisa Ahmed of Mikindani were second and third with 18 and 16 points respectively.

He said that other sub-county championships will be held next early next week.
