The son of iconic former Philippine President Corazon Aquino was endorsed today by his party’s leader to contest next year’s presidential election and is likely to formally announce his candidacy this week.
Senator Manuel Roxas II, president of the Liberal Party, said he was withdrawing his own well-established chance of nomination as the party’s standard bearer in favour of Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino. (Reuters)
