Senior officers transferred in sweeping police changes

Eighteen ward commanders (OCS) have been transferred in changes announced by the deputy inspector general Mr Edward Mbugua.

Among those transferred include Chief Inspector Faki Malevi who is now the new OCC of Mutha police station in Kitui county. He was moved from Baringo county as staffing officer in charge of personnel in Pokot East.

Chief Inspector Benjamin Kooli, who until the changes was the OCS at Bondo Police Station in Siaya County, has been transferred to Bomet County as the staffing officer in charge of branch in Chepalungu while chief inspector Teresa Akinyi moves from Nairobi county as the Gigiri staffing officer in charge of the branch to take over as the new OCS of Chepalungu in Bomet.

Also affected by the changes is Chief inspector Derrick Nyaga who was based in Nakuru County as the OCS of Mwariki Police Station. He has been transferred to Nakuru central as the new OCS while Chief Inspector Michael Kahere who was in Nandi County as the OCS of Kaimosi Police Station moves to Taita Taveta as the Taveta OCS.

Chief inspector Willy Kipkoech Lang'at, who was the staffing officer in charge of Chepalungu in Bomet, has been moved to Uasin Gishu as the traffic staffing officer in Kesses.

Also moved in the changes is chief inspector Stanley Muinde, who until the transfers was the staffing officer in Nyandarua south. He now moves to Nandi county as the OCS of Kaimosi Police Station while chief inspector Julius Ndungu, who was the staffing officer in charge of personnel in Njoro in Nakuru county, has been moved to Wamguru police station in Kirinyaga as the new OCS.

In Kiambu county, Chief inspector Abel Murungi, who was the Juja OCS, now moves to Laikipia county as the new Nanyuki OCS while chief inspector Patrick Macharia who was the Nanyuki OCS moves to Kiambu as the new Kikuyu sub county staffing officer in charge of personnel.

Chief inspector Francis Gathete, who was the Nakuru OCS, has been transferred to in Mwariki in the same capacity while Chief inspector Nancy Otsembo, who was the Kondele traffic base commander in Kisumu county, has been transferred to Baringo county as the staffing officer in charge of Baringo central branch.

Chief Inspector Rachelle Togom, who was the base commander in Ahero in Kisumu county, has been transferred to Laikipia as the staffing officer in charge of Lakipia central branch ( SOB).

Others senior also affected by the transfers included inspector of police Barkawi Mwakaya who has been moved from Nandi county where he was the officer incharge of petty crime in Kapsabet to tourism police unit (TPU) in Nairobi.

Also moved is inspector of police Joseph Wendo who has been transferred from Kitui county as staffing officer in charge of personnel in Tseikuru to Kericho as the officer commanding police post in Kipsitet.

Inspector Dennis Konde, who until the transfers was the officer in charge of crime at Mulot in Bomet county, moves to Mombasa in the changes as the officer in charge of petty crime while inspector Barnabas Kibor based in Nakuru’s Salgaa traffic base now heads to Makueni county as the OC crime in Kibwezi police station.

Inspector Teresa Sugut who was based in Kajiado county as incharge of Ngong traffic base now moves to Bungoma county as the deputy OCS of Mbakalo police station.

All the officers affected by the transfers are expected to report to their new commands by December 9, 2020.
