ODM party leader Raila Odinga has reiterated his commitment to stumping out corruption in the country if he is elected president in next year's General Election.

Mr Odinga, who will be making a fifth stab at the presidency, also said his social protection policy which seeks to cushion poor households will be possible if corruption loopholes in the country are sealed.

The ODM leader made the remarks on Tuesday in Wasimbete ward in Migori County when he made a courtesy call on Mr Oywech Masaga, an aide to Mama Ida Odinga.

“I was a governance expert to the late President John Pombe Magufuli. He often called me seeking expert opinion on how he could seal corruption loopholes in his country and he managed it. We will employ the same strategy to tame corruption and ensure more funds are allocated for our people," Mr Odinga said.

The former Prime Minister said his immense experience in governance and leadership will ensure that his planned social protection policy of Sh6,000 for poor households is achieved.

"Do not be deceived that there's no money in the government. I was the Prime Minister for six years and I know where there are loopholes of corruption. When we form the next government, we will seal all those loopholes and use the money to fund projects," he said.

In a thinly veiled attack on Deputy President William Ruto, Mr Odinga questioned the source of the huge amounts of money that the country's second in command keeps dishing out in fundraisers whereas his salary does not match such donations.

“We all know their source of income and their salary scales. What they don’t tell Kenyans is where they get those huge amounts of money which they dish in fundraisers,” Mr Odinga said.

Mr Odinga said the country's third revolution will basically focus on the economy, the youth, smart agriculture and industrialisation in all 47 counties.

"Kenyans want a strong economy, financial empowerment and better healthcare services. We must also cultivate the culture of buying Kenya products and services," he said.
