Amani coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi has offered to mediate between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Cord leader Raila Odinga following demands by the opposition for national dialogue.

Citing his mediation experience during the 2008 Serena talks led by the former United Nation’s secretary general Koffi Annan, Mr Mudavadi challenged political leaders to embrace nationalism.

“Let Jubilee and Cord stop hardline stands. National dialogue is necessary but let us not give conditions. We should employ respect when trying to pick mistakes in others,” Mr Mudavadi said on Saturday in Vihiga County.

“We in Amani coalition called for peace during campaigns but the ongoing tussle on national dialogue is heightening political temperatures. Members of County Assemblies, senators and MPs must use their positions to unite people,” he added.

The former deputy spoke at Keveye during the burial of Ms Teresa Lukalo, a UDF leader in Vihiga County.

Also present was Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi, his Vihiga counterpart Yusuf Chanzu, majority chief whip Chogo Abdalla among others.
