Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi is dead.
He died at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi.
The news was confirmed Monday evening by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula.
"It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Hon. Moses Malulu Injendi, who left us this evening, 17th February 2025, at 5.15pm at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi. He was the Member for Malava Constituency and Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education & Research," he said in a statement.
"Hon. Injendi was serving his third term as a Member of the House, having served continuously since 2013 (11th Parliament). He was a dedicated and passionate representative who served his constituents with unwavering commitment and integrity. His tireless efforts and contribution to our legislative processes particularly the Education sector and sugar industry aimed at improving the lives of Kenyan people will be deeply missed."
It's a double tragedy for the Injendi family as his brother had died hours before and is yet to be buried.
He becomes the second legislator to die within days after Baringo Senator William Kipkorir Cheptumo died at Nairobi Hospital on Saturday night.
Tributes
Until his death, Injendi was the Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research.
He clinched the Malava seat, defeating his closest contestants after then area MP Soita Shitanda opted not to defend it as he eyed the Kakamega governorship.
He was first elected to parliament on a Maendeleo Development Party (MDP) ticket, having failed to clinch the ticket on Musalia Mudavadi's then United Democratic Party (UDF).
In the 2017 and 2022 General Elections, he successfully defended the seat on an Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket.
