Police recover cylinders stolen from Raila firm

Police have recovered gas cylinders that were stolen from Raila's company last week.

Flying Squad boss Munga Nyale on Monday said the cylinders were discovered near Daystar University in Athi River, about 30 kms from Nairobi.

"We have arrested one suspect, Enos Shihemi, who says he is from Kakamega and we are continuing with our investigations," he said.

Witnesses said two unknown people left the cylinders there last Thursday.

According to Mr Harrison Mwaria, two canters carrying the cylinders parked near the university and one driver said it was too rainy and muddy to continue with their journey.

"I asked my brother who is a caretaker here why there were so many cylinders outside and he said two people left them there saying they would pick them the next day but never did," he said.

The firm, East Africa Spectre Limited, was vandalised and property worth $58,000 (Sh5 million) stolen.

The thieves stole 266 13-kilogramme cylinders, another 431 6-kilogramme cylinders and various motor vehicle parts.
