East African Community Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed has appointed Dr Raymond Omollo as the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) managing director.

In his letter to the authority’s Chairman Cavince Owidi, the minister said Dr Omollo will serve in the position for three years. He takes over from Dr Evans Atera who was serving in acting capacity.

Mr Owidi said Dr Omollo will steer the authority to success. The new director said he is up for the challenge. "It is first critical to get an appraisal of what the situation is. One thing that is very clear to me is that there is need to reorganise and streamline human resource," Dr Omollo said.

He said having individuals in senior positions in acting capacity hampers service delivery.

Moreover, he said he will ensure the agency gets visibility. "I shall endeavour to align the authority's mandate to address socio-economic needs - more so the Big Four agenda - of the regions it covers," he said.
