Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has embarked on a mission to replace the slightly over two thousand beds at the facility through donations from well-wishers.

The move aimed at ensuring the underprivileged are offered access to high-quality sleeping products has seen the facility receive a total of 40 beds so far.

Through the Adopt a Bed campaign, the national referral hospital has received a donation of three double crank beds with mackintosh mattresses from a group of well-wishers with the latest being a group called Pals, comprising mainly engineers.

Mr. Titus Wafula, who chairs the group said their donations will assist patients in their recovery process.

“The beds are standardised and adjustable so the patients can move more comfortably, this is beneficial to both the caregivers and the patients,” he said.

KNH Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Evanson Kamuri thanked the engineers, their families and friends for the kind gesture of touching the lives of Kenyans who are in need of specialized medical care.

“These beds will help in service delivery since the patients will spend their treatment days in comfort. They also occupy small spaces compared to the beds which were there before. Our healthcare workers will thus continue to help patients and give our best at all times to ensure positive outcomes,” said Dr Kamuri.
