Kenya records 373 new Covid-19 cases as 72 more patients recover

Kenya has recorded 373 new Covid-19 cases from 4,663 samples tested in the past 24 hours, raising total caseload to 33,389.

Nairobi still leads in the number of new coronavirus cases.

According to the latest statistics, the distribution of cases per county is as follows: Nairobi (117), Busia (66), Nakuru (37), Kisii (32), Homa Bay (15), Kiambu (12), Kisumu (11), Uasin Gishu (8), Garissa (7), Isiolo (7), Narok (7), Taita Taveta (7), Mombasa (6), Murang’a (5), Migori (5), Kajiado (4), Kirinyaga (4).

Making the announcement at Kemri headquarters on Thursday afternoon, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman also said that 72 more patients have recovered from the disease. This brings the total number of recoveries so far to 19,368.

At the same time, Dr Aman said that three more patients had succumbed to Covid-19, raising Kenya’s death toll to 567.

And while answering questions from journalists, Dr Aman said that measures put in place to combat the virus will be enhanced to ensure that the positivity rate of cases goes down. He said although the current trend seems promising, Kenyans must not relax in the fight against the virus.
