Gunmen attacked a driver attached to the Supreme Court’s Justice Njoki Ndung’u on Friday evening and made away with her official car.

Identified as Stephen Thuku, the justice’s driver was reportedly blocked by another car at Nairobi’s Githurai Mwihoko area. Three men with guns stormed into the vehicle he was driving and took control of it.

The driver told the police that the hijackers then drove him around the city before abandoning him in Kibiku area near Ngong.

Mr Thuku was not injured in the twilight incident. He, however, lost Sh110,000.

At the time of the incident, the car had the registration number KCN 117M.

Sources say the Justice Ndung'u was not in the car when the incident happened.

Police have since asked anyone with information regarding the incident to report to the nearest police station.

In 2017, a driver attached to Justice Philomena Mwilu was shot a day before the Supreme Court hearing seeking cancellation of the repeat presidential election.

The police could establish neither the number of attackers nor the reason for the attack.
