Five Nation journalists win awards

Nation journalists (from left) NTV’s Rose Wangui, and Daily Nation’s Joy Wanja and Stephen Mudiari are all smiles after they scooped awards at the Children’s Rights Media Awards at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi, on Saturday. Ms Wangui won in the Television Features category, Ms Wanja in the economic category while Stephen Mudiari scooped the Photojournalism award. Ms Linda Ogutu of NTV was declared the Journalist of the Year 2010.

Five Nation Media Group journalists were among 13 people awarded during the 2nd Children’s Rights Media Awards gala night at the Intercontinental Hotel on Saturday night.

NTV news anchor Linda Ogutu was crowned “Journalist of the year” for her entry on sanitary rescue.

Rose Wangui scooped two awards, the most educative features and features articles with the “Undying Quest” and “Sachangwan Kids”.

Photo journalist Stephen Mudiari scooped the photography award while writer Joy Wanja’s “Learning to put away a coin” took the Economics and Finance Award.

Lillian Munda, formerly of NTV, won the most interactive award for her story ‘‘My Hero my Passion” an interview of a young girl with US ambassador Michael Rannerberger.

The awards ceremony, now in its second year, is an initiative of Bubble Nest International and Children Legal Action Network (CLAN).
