Covid-19: Kenya reaches 37,079 cases and 650 Deaths

The Health ministry on Monday announced 98 more cases of Covid-19 in Kenya as well as 62 more recoveries and two more deaths. 

This raised the national tallies since March 13, when Kenya's first case of the coronavirus was confirmed, to 37,079, 23,949 and 650, respectively.

The 98 new patients were found after 1,644 samples were analysed in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of samples tested in the country to 518,350.

Ninety six of the new patients were Kenyans and two foreigners whereas 63 were male and 35 female. The youngest was nine years old and the oldest 75.

Counties

In terms of distribution by counties, Dr Aman said Nairobi recorded 32 cases, Mombasa 20, Meru and Uasin Gishu eight each, Kiambu five, and Kisumu, Migori and Machakos four each.

Elgeyo Marakwet, Kilifi, Taita Taveta and Murang'a had two new cases each whereas Garissa, Kwale, Embu, Samburu and Nakuru had one each.

The ministry said that cumulatively, Nairobi remained in the lead with a total of 20,253 declared Covid-19 cases.

It was followed by Mombasa with 2,775, Kiambu with 2,647, Kajiado with 1,929, Machakos with 1,298 and Busia with 1,197.

"Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot, as of yesterday, continue to maintain the lowest numbers of confirmed positive cases, with each having seven," he said.

All the other counties had between 19 and 567 cases.
