A Nakuru court on Friday granted Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Sh500,000 bail.

The MP was also given an alternative of Sh1 million bond to secure his freedom.

On Thursday, Mr Sudi moved to the High Court to challenge his detention at a police station for seven days pending investigations into five charges that he is facing.

Through his lawyer Kipkoech Ng’etich, Mr Sudi filed a criminal review application at the High Court in Nakuru seeking to overturn the decision by Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo to detain him.

In the case filed through a certificate of urgency, Mr Sudi urged the High Court to review the ruling by the magistrate and order his release on bond or bail.

On Friday, pppearing before Justice Joel Ngugi via zoom, Mr Sudi affirmed to the judge that he is willing to abide by any conditions that the court will issue for his release including restraining himself from making controversial statements.
