On Tuesday, top lawyers walked out of the Supreme Court  after being blocked from addressing judges  after being blocked from addressing judges during a hearing of the case.

The advocates were representing some members of a citizens’ voluntary group (Linda Katiba) that sued the government two years ago in a bid to stop the proposed changes in the Constitution.

The government has defended the legality of the constitutional amendments proposed under the Building Bridges Initiative.

While making a case for the revival of the government-backed process that sought amendment of 74 legal provisions, the appellants’ lawyers urged the apex court to overturn the adverse judgments.
