Aga Khan varsity starts media fund

  • The fund will be financed by KfW (German development fund), for courses offered at the AKU Graduate School of Media and Communications to strengthen the media in East Africa.
  • Five beneficiaries will be nominated, one from each of the East African member states, for either a full Master’s scholarship or for professional development short courses.

The Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications has launched a regional media scholarship fund.

Speaking at the East African Community-East African Business Council media awards in Dar es Salaam on Thursday night, Aga Khan University Dean Michael Meyer said the scholarship will be given to students, both from East Africa as well as others picked from across the world.

The fund will be financed by KfW (German development fund), for courses offered at the AKU Graduate School of Media and Communications to strengthen the media in East Africa.

The fund’s main objectives include expanding diversity of learners.

The school also seeks to attract outstanding students from all over the world.

Five beneficiaries will be nominated, one from each of the East African member states, for either a full Master’s scholarship or for professional development short courses.

Five more will be nominated in the second half of 2015.
