University of Nairobi students went on rampage Saturday evening when an engineering student from the institution was reported dead while in police custody.
The student had reportedly been found cheating earlier on and was arrested when he tried to break into the room where evidence of his alleged crime was kept.
He is claimed to have committed suicide while being held in custody at Central Police station in Nairobi Saturday.
Zack Kinuthia, student leader of the university termed the incident unfortunate but condemned the action by the students.
“This is the work of a few students who want to harass motorists and disrupt the flow of learning. In this day and age they should wait for more civilized engagement,” he said.
