Retired President Daniel arap Moi celebrated his 94th birthday in a private function at his Kabarak home, Nakuru County, on Sunday.
According to a statement by his press secretary Lee Njiru, Mr Moi was joined by his immediate family members who included his children and grandchildren.
Mr Moi urged Kenyans to be thankful to God for his protection and good life.
Earlier in the morning, several leaders arrived at his home to wish a happy birthday.
They included Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, MPs William Kamket (Tiaty), Mr Silas Tiren (Moiben) and Mr William Chepkut (Ainabkoi), and Lieutenant-General (retired) Lazarus Sumbeiyo.
Mr Sumbeiyo prayed and wished Mr Moi a good life.
